Gynecological therapy

Problems with menstruation, painful periods, endometriosis, myomas – gynecological diseases can seriously impair a woman's feeling of well-being and quality of life. The origin of these diseases can lie in hormonal imbalances.

For many years, Bayer HealthCare Pharmaceuticals has been offering effective hormonal preparations for treating gynecological diseases and will continue to work on the development of innovative drugs in the future with the aim of restoring the quality of life of the women affected.

Acne therapy

A high production of male sex hormones (androgens) in women can, for example, lead to acne, hirsutism (male-type body/facial hair), and androgenic alopecia (male-type hair loss). Not only are these disorders troublesome for cosmetic reasons to the women affected, they are also frequently accompanied by disorders of the menstrual cycle or the development of ovarian cysts. Women with high androgen levels also have an increased risk of infertility.

A hormone preparation with the active ingredients cyproterone acetate (CPA) and ethinyl estradiol can be used to treat acne. CPA's anti-androgenic effect is used to reliably treat androgenic phenomena like acne. In addition to the anti-androgenic effect already described, CPA also has a contraceptive effect. No additional hormonal or other contraceptives therefore need to be used.

Endometriosis and myomas

In research and development, Bayer HealthCare Pharmaceuticals concentrates on gynecological diseases such as endometriosis and myomas (uterine fibroids), which can seriously impair the quality of life and for which there is no satisfactory drug therapy.
