An underestimated disease
The thrombosis might seems less spectacular than some other diseases to the layman, but thrombosis causes many deaths: over half a million people die of consequences of thrombosis every year in Europe alone. And over 700,000 are undergoing treatment Europe-wide.
Prostate cancer

In the western world, prostate cancer is one of the most common of all forms of cancers. In Europe, almost 350,000 men contracted this type of tumor in 2006, making it the most frequent form of cancer among men. In the USA, prostate cancer – with more than 200,000 new cases every year – is the second most common tumor disease after skin cancer.
Diagnosing Alzheimer's Disease

The most common form of dementia (from the Latin word demens: deprived of mind, confused) is Alzheimer's disease. People over the age of 60 are most often affected by this progressive neurodegenerative disease; which can lead to premature death.
High blood pressure

Estimates suggest that 972 million people worldwide had high blood pressure in 2000, 639 million of whom lived in developing countries. This meant that about one sixth of the human population was affected by this condition.
