Panel discussion:

Despite significant advances in the fight against cancer, a great medical need remains for therapies that can prolong life or improve the quality of life for cancer patients.
WHO estimates 12 million cancer deaths worldwide in 2030 compared to 7.6 million in 2008.
As health care expenditures worldwide are rapidly increasing due to the ageing population, a societal debate is emerging over the value of cancer treatments and the necessary research investment.
What is a prolonged life or an improved quality of life worth to patients and society?
