Fighting neglected diseases

In developing and emerging countries, it is the poorest of the poor who are worst affected by diseases. Contaminated drinking water and a lack of sewerage systems accelerate the spread of tropical and infectious diseases.

There is an urgent need for action, especially against what are known as neglected tropical diseases. These affect about a billion people worldwide. The World Health Organization's special Tropical Diseases Research (TDR) program aims to coordinate and promote global efforts to combat tropical diseases.

We support the WHO in the fight against neglected tropical diseases which are not at the center of global interest. In addition, together with the Global Alliance for TB Drug Development (TB Alliance) we are looking for an improved treatment of tuberculosis, another neglected disease.
