As the global market leader in the field of contraceptives, Bayer Schering Pharma is committed to the exchange of knowledge and experience between organizations and government institutions in the field of reproductive health. Since 2002, the company has been organizing a series of conferences entitled International Dialog on Population and Sustainable Development. The conference is staged every year in cooperation with the International Planned Parenthood Federation (the world's biggest non-governmental organization in the field of reproductive health), the German Foundation for World Population (DSW), the German Agency for Technical Cooperation (GTZ), Inwent – Capacity Building International, Germany, and KfW Development Bank in cooperation with Germany's Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development.

The aim of the event is to promote dialog between politicians, governmental and non-governmental organizations, scientists and industry, to discuss effective strategies on population development, and to support the implementation of the agenda of the International Conference on Population and Development, which was agreed in 1994. Each event includes an exchange of views on progress toward achieving the UN Millennium Development Goals, particularly with regard to global access to reproductive-health measures. Based on the results of the conference, recommendations are formulated and passed on to German and international development policy-makers.
